Blueprint to Jazz Blues is designed for players coming from a Rock Blues background who want to develop an authentic and confident Jazz Blues sound. The course focuses on essential skills such as comping, walking bass, turnarounds and jazz blues phrasing, giving you the tools to expand familiar blues language into a more refined, harmonically rich and sophisticated jazz approach. We break down every cadence in the Blues form in isolation so that you can easily hear and organically apply it within the Blues and beyond.

What you will learn
The course is divided into two main parts: a harmonic part and a more linear approach. In the harmonic part, you will learn jazz blues comping concepts, the comping ladder, different accompaniment settings, big band-like comping with extensions, Freddie Green-style playing, walkups, walking bass lines, shell voicings, turnaround variations, and Bird blues. In the linear part, you will work on I7 to IV7 movement, static dominant chord ideas, resolving into the fifth bar, I–VI7–ii–V7 movement, and blues phrasing without relying on bends. The course also includes demonstrations and breakdowns in keys such as F, Eb, G, and Bb, helping you connect the material directly to real jazz blues situations.
